Who we look after in London

Commercial fire alarms rarely sit on their own. They talk to lifts, dampers, sprinklers, door access and the building management system. We look after the whole picture for the people responsible for the building.

Managing agents and landlords

Planned servicing across your portfolio, one point of contact, and certificates you can pass straight to insurers, tenants and fire risk assessors.

Facilities management companies

A reliable fire alarm subcontractor who turns up when booked, follows your site rules and sends paperwork that’s ready for your client.

Main contractors
and fit-outs

System extensions and alterations during Cat A and Cat B fit-outs, isolations in live buildings, and test results ready for handover.

Servicing that keeps commercial buildings compliant

BS 5839-1 recommends that a fire alarm system is inspected and serviced by a competent person at intervals of no more than six months, with every detector, manual call point and sounder tested at least once a year.

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the “Responsible Person” must keep fire safety systems in good working order. In a commercial building that’s usually the owner, employer or managing agent. Regular servicing, an up-to-date logbook and certificates are your evidence. Insurers, fire risk assessors and the London Fire Brigade may ask to see them.

Unhappy with your current fire alarm contractor?

Missed visits, faults left on the panel for weeks and certificates that never arrive are common complaints from London building managers about their fire alarm contractors.

Send us your panel make and model, the rough number of devices or loops, and your last service report. We’ll quote for planned servicing and tell you what we’d look at first.

What every service visit covers

Each visit follows the inspection and servicing checks in BS 5839-1. On larger buildings we split the devices across visits so everything is tested at least once a year, and we record exactly what was tested.

Review the logbook for faults, false alarms and changes since the last visit

Check the control panel, network, repeaters and fault signals

Test smoke, heat and beam detectors on a planned rotation

Test manual call points, sounders, beacons and voice alarm

Load-test standby batteries and check chargers and power supplies

Test interfaces: lift homing, dampers, door releases, AOVs, sprinkler flow switches

Check cause and effect and phased evacuation, where fitted

Check signalling to your alarm receiving centre

Note changes from fit-outs or new partitions that affect coverage

Update the logbook and issue a servicing certificate and report

Commercial fire alarm servicing questions

It depends on the size of the system: the number of devices and loops, the panel type and how many interfaces need testing. Send us those details and we’ll quote a price per visit.
